Ultraversity's Cohort 2 have had experience with learning sets in a previous module, and with the Independent Learning Module in WebCT there is an extra feature: in WebCT learning sets can have a private discussion space and the opportunity to collaborate on a presentation.

This is an experimental area, so learning sets are still free to choose how they would like to communicate and some might choose not to use WebCT. A benefit for me as the module leader is that I can set up the learning sets easily - though it took me a while to find that this is done on the Presentation page. I have set up the sets as private, with me as a member. If learning sets choose to use their WebCT areas for communication I will be able to throw in ideas if needed. A possible disadvantage is that the other Learning Facilitators may not be able to see the sets - I'll have to check with them, then see if this can be fixed.
At present, I don't know how the WebCT sets might be used. One idea is for each set to collaborate on a presentation about their experience of peer review for this module, but I don't want to overload the degree studies in case this turns out to be too much of a technical challenge. For any sets that choose to try their hand, Peer Review is a good topic as they will all have this in common for the module, and will be able to use any work on a collaborative presentation as an artefact for reflecting on in the Peer Review section of the module.
Initial suggestions for using the private learning set from Jeanette:
Leave a message for your set
Make a folder for your ILM in the presentation area, put your contract (draft or agreed) into the folder
